Realme gave in their official literature at that time were different. But it has been confirmed now that two variants of Realme 5 Pro will launch in the market, 4GB RAM and 128GB built-in storage and 8GB RAM and 128GB built-in storage. And if we talk about the price, then the price of 4GB variant is Rs 40,000/-, whereas the price of the 8GB variant is given as Rs 44,000/- The phone will be availalble in two colours, Sparkling Blue and our device for today which is Crystal Green. And if we talk about the main competitors, then the main competition for Realme 5 Pro, right now, will be Vivo S1, specially for its 4GB variant, and Mi A3 and Oppo A9 2020. Lets move towards the review now, Lets start with the build quality. The back of Realme 5 Pro is of Glossy Polycarbonate, basically is of plastic. Whereas, there is a Gorilla Glass at the front. There is a diamond like pattern at the back, which is very flashy and in this Crystal Green colour you can see shades of green, blue and turquoise. One interesting thing is that Splash Protection is also added in Realme 5 Pro. Where there is no official Splash Resistant certification or rating of this phone, but Realme have explained in their literature that how 3 layers of protection are added in Realme 5 Pro because of which, your phone will be able to resist a little rain, it will resist slight splash of water on it too, as well as it will stay protected from humidity. This is a plus point of its build quality. Along with it, the design that you see at the back is very shiny. So the 'Looks Conscious' type of users among you, who wants a good looking phone or the people who are into trends they will like this look a lot.
If we talk about the display, then the display given in Realme 5 Pro is almost identical to Realme 3 Pro meaning, it is the same 6.3 inches IPS LCD panel which has a Full HD 1080 x 2340 resolution. And the pixel density is 409 ppi. The maximum brightness is 450 nits. And there is this dew drop notch at the top of the display, and the top and side bezels are slim whereas the chin is slightly visible. Overall, I really the display quality of this phone. Colours are bright and pop out. And due to 409 ppi pixel density, the screen seems very crisp. According to me, there is just one criticism of the display and that is that there is no OLED panel given in it. We have seen Vivo S1 in this price, in which a Super AMOLED Display is given, which is superior to IPS LCD technology. But still, IPS LCD panel will work perfectly fine for daily usage. Lets talk about this phone's specifications and performance now. Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 processor is given in Realme 5 Pro, which is based on a 10nm architecture. And Realme 5 Pro, in this price range, is the only phone in which a 10nm architecture is given. Along with it, there is Adreno 616 GPU in it. And as I mentioned earlier, 4GB RAM and 8GB RAM variants are available. Along with it, there is 128GB built-in storage in the phone. These are the beast internals in this price range, meaning they are very powerful internals. The single core score of Realme 5 Pro in Geekbench 4 came out to be 1494. Whereas the multi-core score was 5927. And the AnTutu score was 161275. In general, these scores, in thios price range, are the highest scores. But, if you have Realme 3 Pro, then I would like to add that in Snapdragon 710 of Realme 3 Pro and the Snapdragon 712 of Realme 5 Pro, there is a very small negligible difference. There is a tiny incremental upgrade. There is a 2.2GHz processor in Realme 3 Pro, whereas there is 2.3GHz processor in Realme 5 Pro. So if you have Realme 3 Pro, then there will not be as such difference in your performance. If we compare it with the Benchmarks of the competitors, then in Geekbench 4, the multi-core score of Snapdragon 712, is the maximum. And this thing is helpful while using heavy apps. Interestingly, the single core score is least of all. But the margin is very less, and this thing will not have much of an impact on the performance.
If we talk about the AnTutu scores, then here, the Adreno 616 GPU of Realme 5 Pro, which is the most powerful GPU in this price segment, surpasses all. The phone worked buttery smooth in daily usage. Apps load very quickly, and I did not feel any stutter or lag anywhere. And if we talk about gaming, then PUBG ran on high settings, by default and I did not feel any lag while playing. Along with this, there is a Full Dual SIM support in Realme 5 Pro, meaning there is a dedicated SD card slot. And you can insert two SIMs and a micro SD card up to 256GB, altogether in it. And not only that, a USB Type-C port is given in Realme 5 Pro this time. We are seeing that after Xiaomi phones, in Realme phones too USB Type-C ports have arrived in mid range price segments. And this might be a very pleasing thing to most of you guys because Realme devices are also embracing future.
If we talk about the overall performance, then in my opinion, in this price range, the performance of Realme 5 Pro is top of the line. Lets talk about the camera now, which is the main selling point of Realme 5 Pro. And this time a Quad camera setup is given at the back, which includes a 48MP Wide Angle lens of f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP Ultra Wide lens of f/2.2 aperture, a 2MP Macro camera and a 2MP Depth sensor. If we loom at the image samples, then the colour reproduction seemed quite accurate to me The images of Realme 5 Pro are very saturated. And if we talk about the dynamic range, then it seemed fine for the mid range market segment. And there were no blown out highlights, and the details were present in the shadows as well. The images were very detailed overall, but I noticed an aggressive sharpening at places, and in some images, with the background or foreground blur too, sharpening grains were visible. If we talk about the Macro camera, then I liked the concept. But due to the low resolution of 2MP images were very soft. At the front side, there is a 16MP selfie shooter of f/2.0 aperture. And its images were quite decent as well. So overall, I found the camera of Realme 5 Pro to be very suitable for this price range. Very pleasing images were taken from it very easily. And generally, we have seen that that Oppo cameras perform great in the mid range market segment.
Lets talk about the battery now. Then here too, almost identical setup to Realme 3 Pro is given in Realme 5 Pro. A 4,300 mAh reasonably big battery is given along with VOOC charging 3.0 support is also present, that will charge the phone on 20W. And this is the same speed that on which the Dash charging of OnePlus used to run. Realme claims that you will get half battery in 30 minutes. And I tested it out too for sure. And in my testing, 47% battery was charged in 30 minutes. So this claim of Realme is more or less accurate. And if talk about the full battery charge, then it will take around 1 hr and 15 min. And if we talk about battery life, then this phone will give 1 to 1.5 days on a full battery very easily. And even if your usage is heavy, then with VOOC charging 3.0, you get a quite decent charge even if you charge it for a little while. Overall, I am very contented with the battery life, charging speed and battery size. If I have to do a criticism, then I will only say that it would've been better if in this phone a 4,500 mAh battery was given, like we saw in Vivo S1. But still, with a 4,300 mAh battery and 20W fast charging is a very suitable setup according to me. If we talk about the final thoughts, then in my opinion, Realme has again, provided us with a beast. But, I will not recommend this phone to those who have Realme 3 Pro, because this phone's build, performance, and its battery setup is almost identical to Realme 3 Pro. We only noticed a slight upgrades in the cameras. So if you are a Realme 3 Pro user, I don't think you need to upgrade on it, unless you want upgrades in the camera. Besides that, I can recommend Realme 5 Pro to everyone else with an open heart. If you are a gamer, then the performance of Realme 5 Pro, in this price segment is top of the line. If you are a high productivity user then in this phone, due to high performance internals, full expansion options, and decent battery and fast charging speed I can recommend this phone to you as well. If you are a content consumer, then this phone is fine for you too. If you only need a phone for daily usage, then this phone will work great over there as well. And if you want a phone that is also shiny and flashy in looks, then in my opinion, Realme 5 Pro is, overall, a great option. The only real competitor of it, that I could see right now, is Vivo S1.
