Infinix S5 Pro is a budget range phone, and its price range is around Rs 25,000/- to Rs 30,000/- The retail price that we talked about by the company, unfortunately, price has increased slightly from that. You would've noticed in the last few days that the dollar ratio has also increased. Because of which, these phones will be a little more expensive. So the Rs 23,000/- model is raised to Rs 23,500/- whereas the Rs 27,000/- model will be available in Rs 28,000/-. The key features of this phone are its Full HD Display, fully notchless experience, and a pop-up selfie camera.
We shall start with the build quality the build of Infinix S5 Pro is of Plastic, the back is of plastic as well as the frame. In around the price range of Rs. 25,000/- normally the build is of plastic, but there is no Gorilla Glass protection in this phone, it would have been better if there was Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Even the screen protector does not come pre-applied with this phone it comes separately in the box, so you have to put it by yourself it would have been better if it was factory applied, because if you mess it up, you do not have any other option left. But as far as the looks are concerned then Infinix S5 Pro is really very beautiful. The back has this gradient effect along with this, the back is also really glossy. At the end of the day, it is a preference based thing. But so many people like this shiny glossy show-off look. Due to a glossy back, this phone is also a fingerprint magnet. The phone feels comfortable in the hand, and I liked the weight of it too. And if we talk about button placements and ports, then Power and Screen on/off buttons are placed on the right side, whereas on the left side there is a SIM slot, at the top side, we have a pop-up selfie camera and at the bottom side there are speakers, micro USB port, mic and a headphone jack. On the basis of build quality, I only have two criticisms for this phone. One that, it would've been better if they had given Gorilla Glass in it, and second that this phone doesn't come with a pre-applied screen protector, but it is supplied in the box and you would have to apply it by yourself. Besides these two things, overall, I am happy with the build quality of this phone. A big selling point of Infinix S5 Pro is its display. because there is a 6.5 inches full HD display in it which has a 1080 x 2340 resolution and the pixel density is 395 ppi. A full HD display in this price range is very rare. In Rs 25,000/- to Rs 30,000/- price range, a huge majority of phones come with a 720p display. But along with a Full HD display, there is another quality of this display and that is its fully notchless experience. If you are following our channel for a while now you would know that among notches, dew drop notches and hole punch cutouts, I like a fully notchless experience the most. The thrill of gaming and watching videos is something else on a notchless display, because no notch or hole punch cutout is there to distract you. If we talk about the quality of the display, then 395 ppi is very sharp, and the colours of this display seemed quite punchy to me but one downside is that this display do not brighten as much. Maximum brightness is given as almost 360 nits. Overall, for me the favourite feature of Infinix S5 Pro is its display. The phone comes with two options, which means with a 4GB RAM or 6GB RAM, and it comes with two storage options, which means a 64GB storage and a 128GB built in storage. If we talk about expansion, then there is a dedicated SD card slot in the phone. Which means you can insert two SIMs and a micro SD card, altogether in this phone. The finger print sensor of the phone is kept rear-mounted. And if we talk about interface, this phone comes with Android 10.0, out of the box. Which has Infinix's own XOS 6.0 over it So I told you guys in the intro, as well as I mentioned it in the unboxing video too, that some bloatware also comes with this phone. And you can notice some ads time to time as well. But you can get complete liberation from these things. The ads can be disabled and the bloatware can be uninstalled. Therefore, to improve the performance and to improve your overall experience, first of all turn the ads off. It's very easy to do this. When you are in your app-drawer, then disable instant apps on top right then you will not have ads there too. Alongside that, by long pressing on the home screen, and going in the menu, and after going to the search settings or other settings, and disable the recent apps, hot searches and instant apps. And finally on Zero screen, which is on the left to home screen disable the hot themes by going into its settings as well. So the ads will end here too. Along with that, the default keyboard given in the phone.
If we talk about performance benchmarks, then in Geekbench 4, the single core score of Infinix S5 Pro, came out to be 897. whereas the multi core score came to be 4367. If we compare it to some main competitors, then clearly the performance of Infinix S5 Pro is quite weak. This phone is not for performance junkies and power users. The main reason for that is the under powered Helio P35 processor of this phone. In this price range, Helio G70 and Snapdragon 665 types of processors are also available. But obviously, for a notchless HD display, you would have to give up on something somewhere. If we talk about daily usage, then the phone worked fine. But don't expect everything to run smoothly everytime. You will feel the loading time at some places, and you might feel a slight lag sometimes too. But this phone will handle average user apps. If we talk about gameplay, then this phone is not for gamers. But if you only do casual gaming, then this can be manageable. I played PUBG on Infinix S5 Pro, and the game ran on low settings by default, but the game was absolutely playable. And due to a notchless display, I quite enjoyed the gaming experience as well. Along with that, I also played Call of Duty on this phone and again, the game ran on low settings but overall, the experience was quite enjoyable.
If we talk about the finger print sensor, that I had the speed and reliability issues in the start. But when I registered the same finger twice, then the finger print sensor was working fine after that. So where we are talking about performance, there we would talk about this phone's battery and charging setup. A 4,000 mAh battery is given Infinix S5 Pro and along with that, the phone comes with a non fast charging capable power brick. which will charge it on 2Amp, meaning at 10W. If we talk about charging speed, then 24% battery was charged in 30 minutes, 50% battery took more than an hour to charge and 100% battery will take more than 2.5 hours to charge. So you would definitely have to put it on charge every night before sleep, so that can be fully charged. And if we talk about battery life, this phone will give you 1-1.5 days and if your usage is light then it might give up to two days as well. But overall, a 4,000 mAh battery is quite small. It is, indeed, the smallest battery in this price range you don't see a smaller battery than this usually. Plenty of phones are offering a 5,000 mAh battery in this price range so it would've been better if a bigger battery was given in this phone But again, considering the price range and other features I am ready to ignore this thing too. Now we will talk about a highly marketed feature about this phone, and that is its camera setup. A triple camera setup is given at the back in Infinix S5 Pro. Which includes a 48MP Wide Angle lens of f/1.8 aperture, a 2MP Depth Sensor and a QVGA low light camera sensor. And the front side includes a big selling point of this phone which is its 40MP Pop-up selfie camera of f/2.0 aperture. I wanted to clarify something here, that the 4GB RAM variant of this phone has a little different camera specs. When I did the unboxing of this phone initially, it was a 6GB RAM variant. And at that time, this thing was not shared with us and it was neither mentioned on their website anywhere nor anywhere on their marketing materials. But now, I have confirmed this thing with Infinix Pakistan so the specs of 4GB RAM variant slightly differ. Its back camera is of 16MP and the selfie camera is of 32MP. Back to the video. At the beginning of the camera discussion, lets talk about the two downsides. Firstly, this camera does not have any ultrawide or Telephoto camera in it, like we have seen in some of the competitors. You only get one wide angle camera in it. So it is not really a triple camera setup, it will have a dual camera functionality. Another downside is that you can record maximum 1080p videos with this camera, and they would not have any stabilization either. But now we will talk about the quality of the camera. So the first thing here is that MediaTek Helio P35 processor do not support 40MP or 48MP sensors. The back camera sensor is physically of 12MP whereas the sensor of the pop-up selfie camera is physically of 10MP. But both of these sensors use Quad bear technology, which is also called demosaicing, and can produce a greater megapixel images with that. Which means that the rear camera would normally provide 12MP pictures, but if you want it can produce 48MP pictures as well through demosaicing If we talk about image quality now, then I am impressed with Infinix S5 Pro here. If you compare the images of Infinix S5 Pro with Realme 5i, which I consider as the camera king of this price range, and compare it with its images then you can see how impressive are the images of this phone.
First of all, the colour reproduction in most phones is off in this price range, but here the colour reproduction was quite accurate. If we talk about dynamic range, it is not as good as Realme And at places you would notice blown out highlights, white sky and crushed shadows. But I liked the overall image quality of this phone. In some images, I found Infinix's images even more pleasing than Realme's images. Like here, and here, If we talk about selfies, then here, Realme 5i wins in both, colour reproduction and dynamic range. But the purpose of comparing these two phones is not to degrade Infinix. It is to show you how good the camera of Infinix S5 Pro is. Where there is a whole backbone of Oppo behind Realme and the support of their R&D, Infinix camera is giving quite a good competition to their camera. And this is a very impressive thing according to me. And honestly, I wasn't expecting this good camera experience from Infinix so overall the performance of this camera was better than my expectations. Now, for the final thoughts. The materials of build quality are quite average but I really liked the look of this phone. The display is FullHD and fully notchless so I really liked it. The camera experience was a lot better than my expectations. MediaTek Helio P35 is an underpowered processor and the battery of this phone is small too, so I can not recommend this phone to power users, high performance users or gamers. But if you talk about average users, or casual gamers, or those people who watch a lot of movies or videos on their phones, I can recommend Infinix S5 Pro openly to them. Specially in Rs 23,500/- price range, you can not beat a Full HD display, pop-up camera and a good camera experience.
